Gerace is Just 15 minutes drive from: the wite, sandy beaches of the Ionian coast; the remains of Locri Epizephiri, an ancient Magna Grecia colony; an interesting museum with many Greak findings; the Thermal Baths, pralzed by the great writer Plinio the Old in the 7th century AD; some nice mountains, the Aspromonte, are only 15 km away. In Gerace you can breath a medieval atmosphere, with is lanes, an Impressive Roman-Norman cathedral, one af the greatest works of art in Europe, the remains of a Norman castle, many churches and palaces. In the summer, you can enjoy lots of cultural events, religious festivals, folklore and concerts. The national TV networks have broadcast interesting documentaries about Gerace. On request, a guide speaking English or italian will take our guests around for possible visit to: the enchanting and mytical Scilla, in front of Sicily; the museum of Reggio Calabria, with its famous "Bronzes of Riace" dated from 5th century BC; Stilo, with is "La Cattolica", fine Byzantine work of art and nearby a monastery with some orthodoy monks who returned to Calabria, from the mount Athos, in Greece, after 300 years; Tropea, a great summer resort on the Tirrenian coast; the Sila Mountains, with theyr lakes and sky-slapes; Soverato, with its fine beaches; The Mythical Taormina, in Sicily. Calabrian food and wine are well know for heing very tasty.
In gerace there are 4 restaurants and many more are only 15-30 minutes' drive. Now and then, guests can have lunch or dinner with the host family. It is possible to take English or Italian lessons. Minimum stay, two nights. Pets, regretfully, are not allowed. A Lavandry service is avaible. A tennis court and a bowling green are only a few minutes away. Guests can rent a car. Englis is spoken. We can book beach umbrellas and deck-chairs for our guests.
