Il Molinello Bed & Breakfast

Il Molinello" is built on a big travertine base, already used in Etruscan era for the building of tombs. A very beautiful example may be admired just near the farm.
This travertine has been formed near the outlet of a thermal spring, which in ancient times has been canalised into the inside of the house and exploited to set in action a little horizontal wheel Mill (Molino), whose ruins have recently been renovated.
We have reconstructed the history of our farm thanks to the documents of the ancient Spedale Santa Maria della Scala in Siena, owner, among others, of Grancia delle Serre, of which "Il Molinello" was one of the farms.
The classification of the Tuscan farm holidays structures present some characteristics with respect to the classifications adopted for the classic receptive structures, due to the elements and services, which this receptive typology proposes and evaluates on the territory.
It not only sets the objective to evaluate the structural parameters, as it happens in the traditional tourist classification, but it must take into consideration over all the most typical aspects of the farm holidays offer, i.e. the elements bounded with the agriculture, with the typical productions, with the rural culture, with the natural habitat and with the landscape.
In Tuscany the classification levels are 5:
We start from a base level (1 ear), which includes a series of minimum requirements connected with the hospitality. A series of further requirements corresponds to every level.
The farms with several ears are those offering, besides a series of services connected with the comfort, (for example swimming pool, air conditioning, heating, laundry room) also the opportunity to make known to the guest, from close up, the farm and the rural territory by mean of the organization of trekking by horse, on foot or by bicycle, the productions, the transformation, the sale of typical products, courses of handicraft and of typical cookery, biological products.
